We trace our heritage back over 200 years to one of the first loss adjusting firms founded in the UK by Mr. James Toplis in 1790.  Continuing a tradition of excellence in insurance, Toplis and Harding is the only Chartered Loss Adjusting & Surveying firm in Tanzania and it is the sole appointed Lloyd’s Agent in six Sub Saharan African territories: Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique and Malawi.

London today is still the largest centre of the global marine insurance industry and Lloyds is at the helm. Toplis and Harding’s first Lloyds Agency appointment for the territory of Tanzania was bestowed in 1987. Representing Lloyds at multiple centres in East Africa is a matter of great pride and prestige for us.

Toplis and Harding’s international affiliation was further cemented in the early 1990s when we became the CESAM Average Agent in Tanzania as well as the WK Webster Survey Agents in Tanzania and Kenya.

Our surveyors and loss adjusters are a mix of indigenous and expatriate backgrounds, who are based in Africa and able to serve the immediate needs of global stakeholders of the insurance industry on the continent. We handle claims and marine surveys around East Africa and Sub Saharan Africa on behalf of insurance companies, brokers, underwriting agents as well as on behalf of supply chain industries, logistics companies, security companies and other commerce industries.

We provide immediate attendance at losses, under the control and close contact of a director, with experienced claim handling and expert policy interpretation available for all types of losses covered by marine and non-marine insurers.
